City centre bar and club open all day until late. Dempsey's is open seven days a week. It's convenient location at the bottom of The Moor attracts people of all ages and is especially popular with students. Situated on two levels with an upstairs club.

Well, what did you expect me to say? Dempsey's has been around for a few years now and has become a bit of an old favourite with the gay community. The main bar is where people meet up while the club part is where everyone ends up. The weekends are really banging with the dancefloor packed to the rafters and everybody in party mood. It becomes a bit of a busman's holiday on my nights off because I always seem to end up here. A big favourite for students as well as the regular crowd.

There were many who said Dempsey's would go under when competition opened in the city centre a few years ago. The owners will admit that times were tough, but determination and stubbornness means that eight years after opening Dempsey's is arguably busier than ever. Try visiting on a busy Friday or Saturday and you'll have to queue to get inside.

Dempsey's is not the most glamorous venue but offers a welcome to everyone with free entry until 9pm when it becomes a members club. Membership can be obtained on the door during the week. Don't try at busy weekends because you might be disappointed. The membership scheme might be controversial, but it works and can boast over 12,000 members. Dempsey's has lived under the threat of demolition for years, but a recently signed 15-year lease means its going to be around for a while. This is down-to-earth gay clubbing.

Drag-diva Anita-Asku and DJ Saggy Bum take to the decks for Monday night's dose of retro tunes. Playing stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s, Camp C**k Cheese, Slush Puppy Pop and old Fogie Cream. If you're a fan of modern day Top 20 chart stuff then this ain't the place to go! The music flows from 9pm until 3am.

Don't forget the venue is open from lunchtime for a spot of daytime refreshment. The Dempsey's Games Night from 9pm with Quiz, Play Your Cards Right, Open the Box and Bingo. The club open from 9pm with current chart, pop, dance, indie and infectious r&b. This night gets busier and busier. Popular with students and the dance floor is lively until the end.

Main bar open all day. Karaoke Night. Games Night with Quiz, Play Your Cards Right and Open the Box. Club open from 9pm with mix of chart, pop, dance, indie and electro. Members only after 9pm. The infamous Dempsey's karaoke night shows no signs of losing its popularity. Show everyone just how good a singer you are! Now in its eighth year and still going strong!"

Main bar open all day. Club open from 9pm with liveliest mix of current chart, pop, dance, and r&b. Male stripper on second Thursday each month at 11.30pm. Members only after 9pm. The weekend starts early with a lively mix of people wanting to party until the early hours. Thank god tomorrow's Friday because you'll need the weekend to get over this one. The Sheffield Gay Scene's only late night venue open until 3am. Take advantage of the three bars and dance floor with campness provided by DJ John-Paul.

Dempsey's opens from midday for food and drink. The upstairs club kicks off from 9pm with the weekend's campest mix of current chart, pop, r&b, dance, indie and electro. Members only after 9pm. Where else are you going to go on a Friday? Things get pretty wild at Dempsey's as the customers turn on the weekend charm. Look out for the monthly all-niters, coinciding with Sheffield University's Climax event, when the fun  goes right through until 6am. Dempsey's gets a bit packed from 11pm onwards so be prepared for a bit of jostling, especially if you want to nip into the 'pig pen' for a quick fag and a chat.

This is the Sheffield gay scene's best night out with all parts of the venue packed to the hilt with students and eager regulars. This is one for all age groups so there's something for everyone. Hot and sweaty! Miss this one and you'll kick yourself!

Sunday Karaoke

Main bar open all day with the value-for-money Sunday carvery. Karaoke Night. Dempsey's opens from 9pm with plenty of current chart hits, pop, r&b, dance, indie and electro. Members only after 9pm. Do people ever go to work the next day? This is the big karaoke blow-out followed by some full on action on the dance floor until the early hours. A slow starter but busy as the night goes on.
